Doug
Born Orrin Douglas Jennings on
October 24, 1960
(family and friends call me "Doug")
I work as a graphic artist for
a small publisher in the Chicago area. I teach cartooning part-time (on weekends) for a
private art school and have a comic strip called "Arthur's Pad" that I've been
trying to get off the ground for the last three years. It currently runs in a local
bi-montly city govt. sponsored newspaper. For almost 10 years (during the 80s), I drew a
monthly super-hero comic "Luminaus" page for a youth outreach publication called
ISSUES & ANSWERS. I am still a super-hero comic enthusiast (Mostly DC and independents
these days).
My wife, Shanaz, is from Iran.
We met at Southern Illinois University where Shanaz began her nursing studies (after a
haitus, she is currently in school to finish her medical lab technician degree while she
works part-time in a local hospital as a nurses aid). We have two beautiful girls (I know
I'm biased), Emily, 6, and Melody 4.
Music I currently like to
listen to while I work :
Sting Mercury Falling
Everclear Sparkle & Fade
Joan Osborne Relish
REM New Adventures in Hi Fi (or) Monster
Gordon Lightfoot If You Could Read My Mind
According to the Meyers-Briggs
web site test (I took it twice) I'm a INFP.
I hate sports but I work out to
stay fit 3x per week (While my wife watches her fave b-ball team, The Chicago Bulls,
you'll find me in another room listening to National Public Radio)
My Favorite Recipe for Silly
Putty:
2 tablespoons of Elmers Glue-all
1 tablespoon of liquid laundry starch
1-4 drops of food coloring of choice
Mix ingredients in a glass bowl thoroughly
Let putty sit for five to ten minutes.
Play.
Store in one of those little plastic containers that 35 mm film comes in.
Check it out!
A cool bonus from Doug
